CAMPUS SECURITY POLICIES

GP Institute of Cosmetology’s School Director is the responsible for the safety of both the students and the employees. Security policies are published in GP Institute of Cosmetology catalog and are made available to all enrolled students and for any prospective student upon request. All students and employees are encouraged to report crimes, suspicious activities or other security problems to the proper authorities at GP Institute of Cosmetology. The names of the people to contact for security reasons at GP Institute of Cosmetology are provided to all students and employees.

The following procedures will be followed to address reports or complaints made to security personnel:

  1. GP Institute of Cosmetology will make, keep, and maintain daily logs of crimes reported to police or to the School Director. The logs will be open for public inspection within two business days of receipt of the report. The written report will list:
    • Date of crime,
    • Time of crime,
    • General location of the crime,
    • Nature of complaint,
    • Action taken by____ School Director, and
    • Recommendations to higher authorities.

    NOTE:

    • (i) The reporting of privileged information is limited. GP Institute of Cosmetology is to withhold information when the release would jeopardize the investigation or the safety of an individual until the damage would no longer occur as a result of the release of information
    • (ii) Logs will be made public except where prohibited by law or when disclosure would jeopardize the confidentiality of the victim.
    • (iii) The identification of victims or persons accused in the statistics will not be disclosed.
    • (iv) GP Institute of Cosmetology will update logs with new information when available, but no later than two business days. This report will be signed and submitted to the Admission’s Director for filing or further action. In the event that outside assistance (such as local Police, Sheriff’s Department, Federal Officers, et
    • should be called in, GP Institute of Cosmetology will cooperate with the agencies and investigations to the best of their abilities and within the scope of their school policies.

  2. The community will be made aware in a timely manner of any crimes, suspicious activities or other security problems through local police reports which are published in the local newspaper. These crime statistics will be reported by separate categories:
    • On Campus;
    • In or on a non-campus building or property;
    • On public property; and
    • In dormitories or other residential facilities.

    Certain areas of the GP Institute of Cosmetology’s facilities are not open to the public and are considered to be restricted. Individuals who wish to visit restricted areas or persons in such areas must first obtain permission through the administration office. Visitors to the school class rooms or laboratories must check in with the School Director. Security is maintained during open hours by GP Institute of Cosmetology’s School Director.

  3. GP Institute of Cosmetology’s Director has the authority to check all persons on the school property to determine their legitimate presence, and to:
    • Escort unauthorized persons to the proper office or off of school property;
    • Report any suspicious activity or criminal activity to their supervisor;
    • Control the actions of persons violating company rules or local, State or Federal laws – so long as these actions by GP Institute of Cosmetology’s Director does not violate any local, State or Federal laws;
    • Cooperate with local, State or Federal Law Officers should that become necessary.

  4. Students and employees are given a copy of the Institute’s Security Policies upon entrance to the school. These policies are discussed and reviewed at staff meetings on a regular basis and during school safety meetings. Information is also provided for:
    • Several assault and rape awareness programs;
    • Procedures to follow when a sex offense occurs;
    • Disciplinary action procedures;
    • Locations for counseling opportunities for alcohol and drug abuse education and crime prevention education;
    • Policies on the use, possession and sale of alcoholic beverages and illegal drugs.

  5. While on GP Institute of Cosmetology property, students are encouraged to:
    • Travel in groups or pairs;
    • Stay or walk in well lighted areas;
    • Report suspicious activities or persons;
    • Lock vehicles and personal belongings;
    • Know where GP Institute of Cosmetology’s Director can be reached at any time.
    • GP Institute of Cosmetology prohibits the possession of weapons while on the school property or when involved in any school sponsored activity.
